800GB in 4 Hard Drives

Fun story: my computer has a drive bay that can only fit two hard drives in it. Yet, now I have four.

A friend of mine recently gave me a 160GB SATA drive that he wasn’t using. Unfortunately, my motherboard only has 2 IDE ports, both of which are being used. So, I bought a PCI card with 2 SATA ports and a PATA port. I decided that I would install Windows XP and Vista onto this new drive so that I could have a drive just for Linux (master IDE, 160GB), a drive just for storage (slave IDE, 320GB), and a drive just for Windows (the SATA drive). That would total 640GB of storage space, more than I’d ever use. Furthermore, installation would be a snap; I would just need to plug the drive into the card and the card into the computer and I would be all set. I should have known better than that. :D
